Baby no more...

Looking through some videos from our wonderful summer days, I can't help but wonder if her baby fat melted away in the summer :(

European Vacation!

3 wonderful weeks in Bruges, Barcelona and Frankfurt (where we attended Yasho's wedding). In spite of the jet lag and us dragging her all over town on our tourist jaunts, Rhea handled the travel quite well. Enjoy the video!

Football Fever and Happy Birthday my chickoo

We spent a relaxing day in Bar Harbor playing football, indulging in lobsters and clams and most importantly celebrating Rhea's first birthday! (just didn't get a chance to post-process and upload).

Memorial Day

We had a fairly relaxing Memorial Day weekend. The weather here has been very cooperative, and we made the most of it. I remember our last trip to Rockport when Rhea was 5 weeks old and Sonali was visiting us. Can't believe she's almost a year old and ready to walk.

Rhea goes swimming

I feel bad for pacman!

Mom has been spoiling Rhea rotten, and the other day she got a creme filled marzipan pacman home from a lovely little Danish bakery. Rhea devoured the whole thing in minutes! Yum yum!

The New Yorkers visit

Spring is here, and as the weather gets better, friends and family warm up (literally) to the idea of visiting us. Rhea is a great, easy-going baby and so far it's been just so easy to take her outside. Pack some banana puffs, blueberries for snacks, couple of food jars and a fully reclining stroller - and she's all set for a full day outdoors! She loved the rice dumplings smothered in yummy garlicy pork ribs at China Pearl Dim Sum the other day, and we were proud that she liked it as we do!

Cat & Mouse Game

We bought a cute little toy for Rhea the other day...it's more for me than for her in any case. It's even cuter than my last toy (stuffed alligator).

Why baby-proof?

What is it with babies and their affinity to get in to unwanted places? 3 good reasons we decided it was time to baby-proof the apartment.

1. Trying to climb out of her crib
2. Trying to grasp objects

3. Drawn to radiators, electric outlets and such.

Look who's crawling!

Rhea = iBaby! She goes for the iPhone no matter where it is...none of the toys seem to get her off her butt, but the iPhone works wonders!

Dog in sheep's clothing?

We got some Ikea goodies for Rhea the other day...everything from baby proofing stuff to sheep puppets (L insists it's a dog), and some toy organizers. We've cleared out the entire dining room area for her and needless to say, even that is not enough for her little adventures.

Lullaby

Uma's Mom sang this to Rhea to get her to sleep and till date is the only lullaby that puts her to sleep. Here's the original, enjoy!

Saturday Fun

It's nice to be back into weekend mode (both my MBA apps. are in, and am able to breathe a little easier now). We went to an indoor playhouse, and were easily amused with adults go-karting on kiddie cars, safety gates that we couldn't open, and the sheer cacophony that reverberated through the building. Rhea had a ball of a time too, and here's a slideshow of her enjoying her bumpy little plane.

We were invited over to our neighbor's place for an adult and kiddie "playdate". All the bacchas had fun! I will let the pictures do the talking.

Rhea Eats Solid! (To be read in Bambaiya accent!)

Maybe it is the fact that she is teething and it gives her relief or maybe she loves experiencing new tastes...Rhea loves eating solids. So far we have tried pears, apples, rice, oat meal, sweet potatoes, carrots and peas and even dal. Quite an impressive appetite the little one has!

PS - Mumbaikars, I hope the title of this post tickled you as much as it tickled me!

Six Months Old!

Rhea turned 6 months yesterday. Having her in our lives has altered our lives so much...here's a very heart warming post here about how having a baby changes you. A quick lowdown of what she's been up to so far:
  • Eating with great relish. It's so much fun watching her smack her lips and practically jump from her high-chair when she's eating. She literally can't wait for the next spoonful. Her absolute favorite is carrots, and doesn't seem to care for apple-sauce at all.
  • Realizing that it is possible to completely shut her lips so the pacifier can't get in. Sigh! - it used to be so easy to put her to sleep before.
  • Rolling over all the time. She's even pushing herself with her head and feet and moving backwards. She's out of her play mat in no time at all.
  • Vigorously shaking all her toys. She has so much more strength now than before - she can practically turn over her box of toys, grab her fishie mirror and play with it vigorously.
  • Getting distracted easily - She is not interested in reading at all - why would she when there are so many more interesting things around to distract her?
  • Holding her feet up for a diaper change in a yoga pose. Next up - teaching her to hold her milk bottle :)
  • Skyping with grand parents every weekend. We've also set up a web cam near her play mat so she can continue doing her thing while the proud grandmoms watch on.
